Hail??? In July???? In Dallas????? - 07-08-2009, 11:10 PM

A totally freaky hailstorm passed over my neighborhood late afternoon today. My husband caught the first few before I got home and I caught the aftermath. I hope our new roof wasn't damaged. Anyone else get hit? The hail here was anywhere from golf ball sized to egg sized. Yikes.

Didn't even get a drop of rain over here near Fort Worth. Hope nothing of yours got damaged by the hail.

With hail that size, there is a pretty good chance that most composition shingle roofs in the area are damaged to the point that they need replacement.

We got the hailstorm out at my office in Richardson. I would have shot photos of it, but I was stuck on a project at work and could not get away before the storm passed.

Cr@p!!!!!!! We just replaced ours entirely in July 08 and I have a $9000 deductible on my roof. I don't know whether to call my agent or cry.

Man, this morning, my poor banana trees out by the pool were just shredded. They look so awful! Not the tropical oasis it's supposed to be.

L Stegall added 71 Minutes and 10 Seconds later...Double Post Merged Below

Should have looked closer last night. Our glass top side table was broken into several pieces by the hail.

I got the same hail (but I guess that's to be expected since I live so close to you!). I have a hard time wrapping my head around the idea of huge chunks of ice falling from the sky when it's 100 degrees out (and sunny!). Hope your roof's okay - from what I can see, mine held up.

My roof looks okay just looking at it from street level. I have no idea how to tell if I have roof damage or not and I certainly can't see all of it from the street anyway. I hope the roof wasn't damaged - as I said, we put a whole new roof on last July and I have a $9000 deductible on my roof, so whatever repairs have to be made will be out of pocket. I guess I'll call the guys who did the roof to come check.

David took the pictures of the hail as it was coming down - very freaky. The hail in the grass and under the shrumbs was still in my yard over a hour after it stopped, so they had to have melted a lot by then. It did make it cooler though, we actually ate outside last night over in the West Village.
