Need some location help! - 10-25-2005, 11:46 AM

Hey gang! I'm needing some help with finding a location for a portrait shoot!
Looking for a park or other scenic location in Plano (in the vicinity of 15th and Coit) or something in North Dallas around the Tollway and George Bush.
Neither needs to be super close to these locations, just not super far!
I'm trying to coordinate with a client that lives/works in these areas, and I'm in totally unfamiliar territory here.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

You should check out Arbor Hills Park, on Parker just west of Midway, very close to the tollway and GB interchange. you should be able to find something in this park to meet your needs very easily.

Thanks, rleblanc61! Looks like that might do the trick. Any particular locations within this park you can recommend?

Other suggestions welcome too!

There is a couple of structures at the main entrance that have great brickwork and stairs that you can probably use, and on the main paved trail that loops around the park there are a couple of bridges. near one of the bridges there is another paved trail that forks off. Its just a short loop around a large tree and a rock, but off that circle is a trail that goes into the woods that has a nice wooden bridge (pretty basic) that crosses what is probably a dry creek. They have expanded the park last year and I haven't been there since.

Mark, do you by any chance have samples from there?

Perhaps I should mention, too, that this is a father/son session, and the little boy is around 3 yo I believe. Don't know if that really matters.......

Sounds like a great place. Not sure I'll have time to go scout locations prior to the session, so I guess I just get there early and hope for the best.

Check with Wyatt about pictures. He did a shot there sometime this year I believe. Plus the place isn't that big really so you can go and look at the place.

You can try Prairie Creek Park, they have a nice little water fall that I did a few portriat sessions. It is at Campbell and 75.

Here is a photo of the water fall:

Thanks Ming!
Not sure that would be the best place to take a 3 yr old, but I will certainly keep it in mind for the next session. Great waterfall shot, btw!

The water fall photo was not shot by me. I just googled the name of the park, and found that picture.

I have not shoot little kid in that location yet, but I have seen other photog shooting family portrait (including little ones) there.
