I'm always location scouting and feel like I have a good idea of where to shoot, however this one has me stumped so I thought I'd ask for suggestions.
I'm shooting a mock magazine feature of the two partners at a law firm in the mid cities. They're going to write an article about them and frame it. Apparently this is a common thing in the medical world, but not the law world. Then I'll be shooting 7 attorneys. All to be made into separate features. Therefore, I'm thinking I want a diverse location so each shot doesn't look like the previous shot. I've visited their office in person and it has potential as a last resort location.
The law firm specializes in bankruptcy. Yeah, how do I communicate bankruptcy in a positive way? And don't even suggest I shoot at a GMC dealership!! haha
I was thinking maybe tarrent county courthouse and then just downtown Fort Worth as a backdrop... if I did some very precise scouting prior to the shoot. I was also thinking maybe a university like UTA or Texas Weseylan.
Thoughts?
Thanks

I was thinking down range at DFW Gun Range. But first choice would be a courthouse, then courtroom, followed by thier office

The Tarrant County courthouse has a lot of possibilities by itself. It's a pretty cool old building. There are several others in the area (even the newer public library) that say "imposing" and "powerful" and "we're on your side" without being legal-specific.

If they specialize in bankruptcy, they spend all their time at federal courthouses, not at the state courthouses we normally think of as photo venues. And believe me, you'd have to have a lot of political pull (or realy moxy) to get a shot inside a federal courthouse.
This may sound weird, but you might want to think about this shoot as if you were shooting a rock band, not a bunch of lawyers. All lawyers want to think of themselves like rock stars, and if there's something about this group's personality that takes them out of the normal lawyer-esqe cliches, they might really like something completely different. Are they all hunters/outsdoorsmen? Then maybe have them in camo, holding deer rifles, in a clearing in the woods. Do they think they're hip young urbanites? How about shooting them at an abandoned factory, or a junk yard, in their lawyer-suits, but with their hands and faces smudged and dirty?
Given that all us lawyer types have basically the same tired old "pictures in the law library" somewhere in our marketing materials, try to think of something unique to these guys.
(And although the "down range at the gun range" idea is enticing, resist the temptation -- the judge who will sentence you is also a lawyer.)

I think Jeff is on to something. Find out what their interests are. Focus on the two partners. If they both golf find out what club they belong to. The Texas Star is a beautiful course.

I'll second (or third) Jeff's approach. I'm very glad that I'm a lawyer, but I don't really want to look like that stuffy photo on the firm's website!
I probably wouldn't photograph them in camouflage or with rifles, though, as that might offend some of their readers/target audience. On the other hand, that they be the audience they're looking for. In any event, I'm sure they'll have some outside interests and activities that you can work with.
Good luck!

I'm cracking up at all of the ideas about where to shoot the lawyers. HILARIOUS! Love the gun range idea! :)

Just kidding. I think any spot that maybe focuses on where they are from (Ft. Worth skyline, etc) instead of the type work they do would look nice as well. Anything but the typical guy in a suit in front of some books.
