Howdy Nance,

That quite a nice shot of "Tsabo" I think is how his name is spelled, and "Scarlet" The Macaw. Karen and I really had a great time today, even though we didn't see the cubs, maybe next time.

Beautiful shots! Such gorgeous color and sharpness. I wish I had that kind of luck today myself but I didn't. I got a few shots that were OK though. The lion cubs were just adorable but not very active...and the afternoon shade was rather dull.

Thumbs up Best Of Show - 10-30-2005, 12:52 AM

That first one of the Lion is one of the best "big cat" shots I've seen on the TPF, and there have been some really wonderful ones.

Your photography has taken a quantum leap forward in the last few postings. Show us more . . . much more.

Ha! That first shot is fantastic! That's one of the shots I was looking for but never happened. It shows scale and parent/cub relationship. How lucky and it's perfect!

Great exposure on the tiger shots.

Nancy:

I can't believe that Macaw let you take it's picture. I chased that thing for 45 minutes last time I was there. He was just NOT in the mood for portraits. I'd get focused and he go behing a branch. I'd sit and wait for him to reappear, but he wouldn't come out until I lowered the camera. The one time I thought I had him i let the shutter go and he literally fell off his perch while holding on with one foot. Ridiculous!!!

Hey Lauriel,

What beautiful shots you got!!! We tried to wait Precious out, but she and the cubs just didn't want to come out while we were there. We were there from 10-12:45p. What time did you get your shots?

Thanks for your kind comments and for sharing your great pix!

Nancy

Thanks... we didn't get there until 2:00 pm and the zoo was closing at 4:00 so we had a tiny window during which to hike all the way to the back, jockey for position among the other dozens of photogs, and try to get a picure or two that wasn't blurry, dark, or otherwise yucky. I hope to get back before the weather gets cold and spend some more time shooting. I'l have to visit the birds...that macaw is gorgeous! :)
