My wife and I went out to the Ft Worth Zoo today and we got to meet up with Srini, John S, Zeroendless and a few others again. I had a great time We also met with Chipper and Spent so much time talking I did not get a lot of shots.
The Lioness and cubs were active when we first arrived but the line of Photogs and visitors was so long there wasn't much room to squeeze in After awhile the Lioness and cubs decided to sleep and rest up mostly. We made two trips back to the Lion area and they were sleeping both times.
We renewed our memberships so I will probably be going back out again this week when there is a smaller crowd. If anyone wants to tag along give me a shout.
Zero, John and Srini I would love to see some of your shots from today
It seems the new Jaguars do not get along all that well Sure hated to hear that the pair they had was shipped off to Houston! | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

Robin
I like to go on Wednesdays because it is half price.
Chipper must live at the zoo ??? Did she talk your arm off about the new Nikon D200?
If the weather cooperates, I will be ready to go again this week, even though my 2X converter has not arrived. I still don't have an acceptable shot of the bald eagles, and some of the other species.

We need something to look at, too. No one living in Ft. Worth has a right to cmplain about anything zoo-wise. I am so jealous!
Very nice photos, all of them. Those lion cubs are SO cute.

Tom Chipper did talk my arm off and yes the D200 did come up in our conversation
I have a 2X you can use it is not the name brand Canon but works just as nice
It is the Kenko-Tokina 2X. Ramsey and Eugene at Competitive cameras told me it was just as good.
I have some nice shots of the eagles from previous visits (2003 and 2004) I have made a couple up as 16x24 prints. I used my 80-400mm lens on most of them. The hard part is dealing with the fencing
Quite a few times when I try to get shots of the Cougar he will be laying right up near the fence and I can not blur it out. You can barely make out some of the fencing in the Jaguar shots above.
I would really like to go out early some time this week right after they open. Maybe Wednesday if the weather improves.
Keith, Jake and Zero thanks for the nice comments.
Suzy if you are lucky maybe the Jaguars will mate again in Houston! I did manage to get a few shots of their cubs before they were sent to Houston Did you know the male jaguar is missing his right front paw? You can not see it in this shot I got awhile back:
I made this into a 16x24 print and custom framed it:
It is sweet!
I found this shot of the female and cubs in my Photoshop CS gallery on Pbase: Quote: |

Roy yes we need this rain real bad
I know my Brother In-Law will enjoy it, he bought a new boat this summer and the lakes have been real LOW. He has been out almost every weekend with it.
Thanks for the comment Quote: |

Howdy Robin,
Great shots!!! I can only imagine all the tripods and cameras that must have been there. We went Saturday morning early , The "regulars" were already in there places. They are some very, very nice people and it was good to chat with them again. We left and went to eat, and of Course they came out then
Congratulations again on some very nice shots.
