So, I'm working on a narrative project for class. I'm going with the theme "Escape". Does anyone know of an abandoned or run down hospital/asylum type place? Someplace really eerie.... suggestions?

I know of a perfect place, but not sure you can get in. There's a fence around it, and from what I hear, they are strict about not letting people in there. I'm still trying to see about shooting there, myself. It's in Sherman, Texas.

I know where you are talking about Leslie. It is actually not far from my studio. As far as I heard is that you can't get into it. Now if this is true or not i do not really know (it is the this person told me blah blah blah), but the guy that "owns" it is a lawyer and they have cameras up on the property to get people who go on it. I have tried to research online and there isn't much about it. If you are serious about going on the property, I would go to the property tax or title office and see if you can find any information about who owns it because I think that is public records but not sure? Then contact the owners about it.

Good idea! Yeah, I heard from the fire chief that it's impossible to shoot there and not get caught. That must have been why. It's such an awesome place though! Someone I know was going to see about getting permission to shoot there for us.

If you have the address, you can look up the property on Grayson County appraisal district website. http://www.graysoncad.org/

use the free search it will tell you the owners name and mailing address. It works that way for all counties in Texas.

I know which place you're talking about and it would be killer for photos---- saw some of the inside a few years ago and has some amazing architectural details (now, of course, in the midst of graffitti and fire damage, etc...)... supposedly the lawyer has long-term plans for the place, but don't know whether that means he is going to plow it down or try to rebuilt a historically accurate version of it... definitely has an interesting history to the building and supposed "ghost" house....

Is it still there, we use to go there when I was going to AC after parties for the scare factor...really interesting place esp. at night. Hope you can get access.
