THE CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF SAINT MATTHEW, DALLAS
PRESENTS 9" ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF HYMNS FEATURING A PHOTO
EXHIBIT of HISTORIC TEXAS CHURCHES
SATURDAY. NOVEMBER 7th at 7:00 PM
The Music Ministry of The Cathedral Church of Saint Matthew, Dallas will feature a photo exhibition of historic Texas churches in conjunction with the 9th Annual FESTIVAL OF HYMNS Saturday evening, November 7th at 7pm. This event will be held at the Cathedral, 5100 Ross Avenue, Dallas and is free and open to all. The photo exhibit will be open from 6pm in the Great Hall. An offering will be taken to support the Ministry of Music at the Cathedral.
David Brown, the photographer, is a member of the Cathedral and founding member of the Texas Church Project. This group has photographed historic and architecturally interesting churches from across the state of Texas. Brown says, "during the nineteenth and early twentieth century, European immigrants established small communities throughout the state. One of the first buildings usually erected was the church. These church buildings often reflected the national origins and customs of the builders." Brown continues, "the traditional faith, practices and architecture of the immigrants' homelands can be seen in these structures." Some of the sixteen churches in the exhibition include the nearby Holy Trinity by the Lake Episcopal, Heath (Rockwall County), The Francesca Chapel, Waxahachie, (Ellis County), and The Old Rock Church, Cranfills Gap, (Bosque County). |
