Here are some shots of the cute cuddly lion cubs from the Ft. Worth zoo taken this past Monday. My wife shot all these and she asked me to post them because she would love to get ya'll's expert comments. Many are too soft - a loose quick release plate on the monopod and zero (zip, nada, none) sharpening are to blame. Of course if ya'll would tell her they are terrible pictures and she has no business picking up a camera again I would appreciate it - it makes it hard to take pictures when she's hogging the camera.

And finally one of mom after a busy day of chasing her cubs around making sure they stay out of trouble.

Yep, the shots are great, so sorry. In fact these are much better than no shots at all which is what some of us got. How long were the cubs out for this series?

Man - a guy asks for a favor from his fellow he-man-women-haters-club members and they turn on him like bad milk.

Thanks for the comments. The cubs were out when we returned to their enclosure at 2:20 PM and stayed out until about 3:15 when we left. We stopped by the first time at 12:45 and Chipper told us they had just gone inside a few minutes before we got there.

John,

Cute shots. Tell your wife I have a title for her last one of Precious (Mom): "Calgon, take me away!"

John - Thanks to you and your wife for the pictures and the post. If the pics have any softness, it only contributes to the subject's mood. That's good. I like the pics. The cubs are precious and the lioness certainly deserves a rest from her playful cubs. I hope to get out there again soon and check them out. What lens did you use for most of these shots? I gather it was the 100-400, but were these at the long end? My lenses only go up to 300mm, but I do have a teleconverter. Thanks again and thank your wife.

Thanks everyone. I'll pass the compliments on to my wife.

Bob, yeah, they were shot with the 100-400 and all the ones except the 2nd and 4th were shot at 400mm. The 2nd was shot at 100mm and the 4th was around 275mm.

They're definately worth the drive from Canton! I would plan to get there pretty early and camp out at the lion enclosure. You're never sure when they're going to make an appearance.

A quick update on the cubs...

My wife and I swung past the zoo today for a quick visit. The membership is a great deal because you aren't trying to spend a full day there to try to "get your money's worth"!

Anyway, all four were out and having a blast! Took a few shots although handheld they are aren't the greatest, but it's an update and bump to the thread!
