Looking for an indoor photo location - 12-02-2009, 12:35 AM

I'm taking family pictures this weekend in Northeast Fort Worth (NRH/ Southlake/ Grapevine/ Keller) and it's supposed to be freezing. I need to find an indoor place to shoot.

Any suggestions?

Yeah, I've shot there a bunch, but I was hoping for something different.

I'd be curious on this as well. Just something nice and decently lit. I have indoor lights, but decent natural light is always a plus. Please... suggestions are golden.

Just a note (sorry this is kind of off subject, but since Tom brought up the thread), I've always heard that bridals were $1500 to shoot there, but I recently had a bride called there, informed them we would be shooting her bridal there, and they said there would be no charge as long as we don't use tripods or bring in extra lighting, i.e. soft boxes and such.

Maybe they've softened their policy. Or maybe they don't have consistent enforcement of their policy.

I'd like someone to show up in a wedding gown, no tripods, no lights and test their policy. I'd do it, but I can't find a wedding gown that fits me.

Hahaha Tom! Well, if you find the gown, I will shoot you!

Yeah, they may have, who knows. It's different every time you call. I was pretty shocked they said that. I was also told that Hotel ZaZa was not letting anyone shoot bridals there anymore. This same bride called them, and they said it was ok, but they just needed to know what part we would be shooting in. I was shocked.

I imagine if Tom simply put on a wedding gown, it would become an instant "trash the dress" session. Not sure if he qualifies to wear white, either.

Might be too late, but what about the family's house? A little creativity could make it a killer location. Or do they attend a church that is decorated for Christmas? Or does the family have a bunch of funky Christmas sweaters they can put on and walk around a park, downtown FW, something?

It is a hotel and in the "hospitality" industry. My guess is that they are very laxed in the enforcement of the policy especially since the Wolf is a block or 2 away and times are tough for a hotel that charges what they do.

I DO know that if you get a glass of wine or buy anything there, they will validate your parking. So, either spend 10 (I think that is what it is) or have a nice glass of red for 7.00 and get free parking.

We were told the same thing the other day, and just did a family shoot there on Saturday. As long as we didn't have light stands or tripods it was free.

Interesting. I haven't shot there because of their outlandish fees. My families are usually struggling to pay my $75 session fee; so I don't even bother with expensive locations. And I try to be honest and not shoot where I'm not supposed to.

Hello,

I am a brand new member here and I actually joined to ask this exact same question.

I have a family shoot to do this weekend and there are more people than my "extra bedroom" studio can hold. Any indoor shoot ideas other than the Gaylord?

Thanks so much!

Dave
