We went last year for the first time and the kids loved it and I got some great photos, but it was crowded.

My wife and I went last week, and it was great! It's amazing how they can do that.

Great photo! How crowded was it? I may bring the kids tomorrow, Sunday.

I haven't been before... can I assume the 24-70mm would be appropriate for this display? Should I bring something faster like a 50mm f/1.4? Maybe just bring a flash?... but I hate that idea unless it's for effect.

Terry and I have gone the last two years. We found that weekdays an hour before they close seems like a good time. Faster glass and no flash works. With it being ice reflections can be a problem. Sometimes it is no problem.

I am not sure that time would work with the kids, but I will figure something out. If it was not so far away I would go on a weekday morning when the kids are in school, but it is a long drive. Maybe I can get in before people get out of church Sunday morning. Thanks for all the tips!

I used a 24-70 and an SB800 flash. The flash is mostly for fill. It's very cold in there, but they provide parkas.

We're going to try to go again since its been 2 years since the last time.

$3 coupon code CLIPAD (Adult) CLIPCH (Child) when purchasing tickets online. Coupon codes appear in DFW Clipper (a local direct mail magazine)

I'm going tomorrow morning. Hopefully miss the throngs of school kids.

Going to take the 24-105 f4 IS and shoot the 7D at a higher ISO.
