Just log on to MM and and do a search for models who just signed up. They are the ones to hit first and get some shoots with.
Don't diss mm too much you get what you are willing to pay for. There are many real models on there. That are published, have agents and travel the world both in print and runway work. BUt yeh, you are going to pay for them UNLESS...you work is killer and they call you.

I strongly suggest one of the brick and mortar agencies in town.

The Kim Dawson Agency
The Campbell Agency
The Clutts Agency
Linda McAllister Talent

Otherwise, you're just a well off using Craig's List, MySpace, or Facebook as using Model Mayhem.

Good luck!
Exactly! I've had big budget shoots that can afford the hundreds or thousands for a Campbell Agency or Kim Dawson model, and then I've done the free/cheap model search. It can be hard to find someone cheap that works/looks/acts like a pro...

Most of the models are just as inexperienced. Good luck.

Hey Ken,

Here are some very active meetup groups that you may enjoy. They do model shoots and you can learn a lot. Shoots include lights and studio in addition to a model. You just need to show up with your camera. Prices for workshops range from $39 to $200 for a 4-6 hour session. You will be sharing time with about nine other people, but it keeps the price down. Some these groups do nude and implied as well.

Frisco Frisco and DFW Photography from Joe to Pro (Frisco, TX) - Meetup.com

Dallas (I-35E & 635) Glamour Photography Club of Texas - DFW Chapter (Dallas, TX) - Meetup.com

Little tamer group with more general interest run by the same guy as the previous group:Dallas Digital Photography Meetup Group (Dallas, TX) - Meetup.com

Little farther south at I-35E and Empire Central The DFW Fashion and Glamour Meetup (Dallas, TX) - Meetup.com

I personally belong, and have particpated in shoots, with each of the groups and they are very newbie friendly. Good way to get launched, meet experienced models and see what you're getting yourself into
