thanks for the ideas guys.

Will--Yes. I have a D50-IR camera. It was converted by Lifepixels. I love it! I can get my hands on two generators. One for lights and one for fog machine. Is the cemetery you mentioned posted?

playbak--The Cemetery in Richardson looks cool. I am going to Cowboy Studio tomorrow, so I will drive back and check it out.

I am looking to do this on a full moon night in March. If anyone is up for experimenting with this idea or just helping protect me while I am out there... hehehehe...

Jen,

I do not know for certain that it is not posted. I do not think it is though. But like Jeff said in another thread, public cemeteries cannot be locked because it is illegal.

I prefer to ask for forgiveness later than to ask for permission up front... but that is just me.

I don't think TX law requires the cemeteries to be open 24/7, they just have to be made reasonably accessible. In the case of cemeteries on private property the owners can still set hours and other regulations. I know Glenwood here in Houston has posted hours and a gate to keep you out when it's closed.

Seriously, if you're not defacing, defaming or defecating on the graves, why would the police even care? My experience is if you look like you belong there, people will leave you alone. That being said, a really scarey costume might be appropriate;-)

If the cemetery is accessible, you should be fine. TX trespass law is actually pretty generous. All I'm saying is if it's "posted" or there's a locked gate and you have to hop a fence, it's still trespassing.

Another idea is to do it during the daytime... if we're using high-powered strobes and shooting at ISO100@F13 and 1/250s... it will appear as if it's night. Just a thought. Between 4:00 and 6:00 is probably best. You could probably even drag the shutter just a tad (or just shoot at a wider aperture) to let a little bit of ambient in... to simuate a full moon.

Ah, I was wondering what the name of that cemetery was, thank you! I have a book a friend gave me about Collin Co. cemeteries, but I couldn't find that one in it because they're listed by name, altho general locations are also given. I guess I didn't look hard enough!
