The mall... - 02-08-2010, 02:25 PM

I was just at the mall with the old Dillard's outlet. There is a tinseltown theater there, too. It's the Six Flags mall! Mostly wasted away now.. The movie theater is still there along with a few stores. On the way in I said to my girlfriend, "Wow, this would be a great place to take pictures!"
We got there off Division. There is a lot of construction, but if you are coming from division, take the ramp to get on 360 North, then your first turn right will get you there. The road is "Galleria" (how fitting, for a mall, haha).
Enjoy.

Awesome, I know which one that is and I was just talking to my sister about going to scout there for places to shoot. Maybe take my point and shoot to check the place out and then go back ready to do the real thing. The theater there isn't that bad, and its cheap to watch the movies. There aren't that many stores there and I'm surprised that they still have the place open. I don't remember what time they close the mall down, is it 6pm? Except for the theater area because of the low traffic?

my suggestion would be to find the mall office and get written permission to shoot. Arlington PD could be called out to issue a criminal trespassing ticket without warrning.

Even if the mall is still open and has shops in it?

you should always get permission to shoot on private property.

I've always thought if it was an implied public place, like a mall, or farmers market, that we could shoot until asked to stop?

I was under the same impression. My professor told us today that in public places we can shoot until asked to stop and they have no right to confiscate anything from us either if asked to give anything over.

A mall is private property, so it's not really a "public place". A city park would be considered a public place.

Downtown Keller (just south of FM 1709 on Hwy 377) - tons of grunge looking buildings that have easy access for photos . . . you can just park & walk.

Try the historic Cotton Mill in McKinney. Photography

Out back they have a bunch of abandoned buildings, rubble, bunches of old rusty pieces of equipment, etc.
