Here's another copy as he was leaving last week. .
The pilot gave a wave as he went by.

Better res shot here. http://www.pbase.com/fotopro/image/51950947/original

p.s. taken with the much discussed Sigma 70-200 with 2x converter.

Bright orange tips and tail. Probably out of Point magu, CA. Missle test birds. They drop the new test missile, etc. Have to see if I can find an old pic I have of refueling one over the Carribean...

I really love the menacing bulge of the 20mm cannon on the nose of these birds.

You must be talking about the Collins foundation F-4 at Ellington. It is in perfect shape!

Absolutely. I didn't think it was the same because of the tail numbers, and I wasn't very clear in my message. Besides, mine has a menacing shark face......

By the way, notice that both F4's are missing the port side pods ???
Is that a standard tail hook, or some sort of refueling contraption under the tail ?

QF-4...thse guys don't have much longer to go. Anybody else see the show on the History channel about AMARC and how they pull the F-4s out of the graveyard and get em flying again? Good stuff.

Another recent shot of an F4, taken at LRAFB Airshow early October. Focus is a little soft, forgot to turn on IS.
