2006 Grand Prairie Calendar!

I just heard back from Grand Prairie and they'll be using two of my images in their city calendar this year (they used 3 last year):

Oh.. left out the details. :)

This is an annual "contest" that Grand Prairie holds. Images have to be of locations in Grand Prairie and/or of Grand Prairie ISD students. They usually have several hundred images submitted, so to get even one included is an acheivement.

The put the contest winners in a high gloss calendar which is distributed for free around Grand Prairie (and, of course, at City Hall)... they also maintain the rights to use the image again in other promotional things and on the website (they used one of my calendar images from last year in a deck of playing cards, for instance).

In other words, no money for it.. but I get credits and get stuff for the cutsheet portfolio.

We all relish in this sort of thing. When one of "us" gets recognized for
their work, we are all proud and take satisfaction in knowing that as a group we have some pretty cool folks here.

Well, the moon isn't, of course.. but I was standing in Grand Prairie and the tree branches were in Grand Prairie. (Of course, it was rising over Cedar Hill.)

That was taken from Lynn Creek Park looking out over Joe Pool Lake to the East on July 3, 2004... I went out there for a sunset, which was a dud.. but boy, the moonrise was sure cool.

Congratulations Brad!!!! I had my entries ready and thought the deadline was 10/31 instead of 10/1. Duh!!!! Oh well, I'm ahead for next year, if I don't forget the deadline again.

Congratulations Brad. The emotion in that moonrise picture is fantastic. I normally don't like a subject centered vertically but the branches of the tree cupping the moon is a fantastic composition and it works very well in this picture!
