I will be going to the members only opening at 8:30 AM Saturday. The zoo opens to the public at 10:00 AM. I was there a week ago and it looked complete, but I was not able to get into the MOLA.
Really looking forward to it.

It was advertised to open on the 6th but I was there yesterday (5th) and it was open to the public. It's a very cool place and wasn't too crowded. Probably because nobody knew it was going to be open a day early.

Thanks for posting the link to the news article.....appreciate it.

For those of you who visited yesterday or today, it would be great to see some of your photo work from the new exhibit.

I was somewhat disappointed with the lighting. Of course it was as expected: one, hard light source per exhibit, usually. I wonder if it would be acceptable to bring diffusion panels and flashes during the slow hours?

I'm sure others will add to this, I saw lots of folks out there with long lenses on SLRs.

I'm sure there were 1000 shots in there, these were just the easiest ones I could actually get to.

We went today and I got these with my D700. Nice exhibit, very crowded, but fun!

Those are great shots. Do you have to shoot through glass, or are they open exhibits?

Thanks Jeff,

All shots were through the glass except the blue macaw shot. I recommend going right at opening time - that way the glass won't be so smudged up with kids' fingerprints and such. The blue macaws were perched outside in a little rotunda open area for viewing from all angles. They are beautiful birds...
