Thought I'm not into football, wasn't born or raised here, and have absolutely no attachment to the Cowgirls, or their former playing field; I think its a shame that they are tearing down the stadium.
What are they going to build there?

What are they going to build there? | blasphemy says the die-hard Cowboy fan!
Maybe they'll build a 70' statue of Tom Landry like the statue of Sam Houston on I-45 north of Houston. Actually, it'll probably be another industrial park.

I've heard numerous stories of hotels, condos and shopping. Could be anything but traffic won't be fun

What are they going to build there? | Not a Cowboys fan.. not even particularly a fan of football, but I do watch the Superbowl each year.. the only football game that I watch on purpose.
I shot several high school teams there during the playoffs in my PJ days... Texas Stadium was/is a dump. The place was crumbling at the edges and it smelled bad everywhere you went... moldy, musty.. with a hint of stale beer and mustard. It won't be missed.
Last I heard about the area was they were going to build an outlet mall type space... don't know if that's still in the plans. I do know that Kraft Foods bought the demolition rights.. so their logos will probably be all over the place. They'll own the footage of the demo or some such silliness.

They are talking about opening some of the area parking lots for viewing. I think the local Fox affiliate said the RED parking lot will be open but I cannot confirm that.
It is going to be real early on a Sunday morning.

I have to disagree...IT will be missed by many! That stadium has a lot of memories for many people, even though it was run down the thing was built in the 70's. When I was a cheerleader we had the honor of cheering on the field, and had photos done on the Star. High school teams would have the state playoffs there, I had season tickets on the 25th anniversary. Many Many people will be sad to include the players who had there career on that field.
Can't wait to see the photos and the video that you post Jose.

There is a 9 story hotel on Regal Row Sterling Hotel Dallas, full service hotel Dallas Texas that has a great view of the stadium from the top 5 floors and also from the roof of a parking garage that is on the west side. THe rooms windows actually slide open so you wouldn't even have to shoot through glass, you would need to book that baby up soon and be sure that you get the stadium and not the Downtown view- Probably could get 3-4 people shooting per room.

The last I heard they were planning condos, restaurants and shopping for that site. The access roads will be redone (badly needed). Also the new light rail extension would stop near there. There is an outlet mall planned for near that location, but not actually at the former stadium site.

They need to strap Jerry Jones and his convicts in the seats when they bow it up.

After they clear it TxDOT will be using the site as a storage yard for a couple years is the last I heard, don't know who will be on it after they relinquish the site. I think the city of Irving owns the actual land right now. There is some other empty land from a trucking terminal across the road and of course the remote parking lots all that could be developed.

My dad used to always take us to the Thanksgiving Day game....it became a family tradition in the 70s....saw Capt Comeback do his magic many times...and of course, the famous Clint Longley pass to beat the hated Redskins!
