Looks great Bruce. Did you get out there today or was this over the weekend?

Beautiful picture but for my tastes it's sharpened too much. Nice take on a "classic" shot though.

Thanks for the feedback. Here's another version sharpened a tad less.

I think part of the reason it looks "harsh" is because of the severe backlighting. I appreciate your commenting.

This was today, Roy -- both my wife and I had the day off. It was beautiful there: hardly any people.

But, as you know, the light is tricky. We were there from about 1:30pm to 3:00pm -- deep dark shadows and "white" bright light. What looks O.K. to the eye does not agree with the contrast capabilities of the average digital sensor.

I'm learning, but I need to spend more time there.

Bruce, yes, I like this version much better. You might be right about the backlighting causing problems.

Oh yes I know about the light.

Hope you don't mind me posting my photo from Saturday just 9 days ago. I think I was just slightly to the right from where you were with this one but you can see the change in color over those nine days.

Don't mind at all -- any time. It was your recent photos that reminded me that I needed to get out there this Fall. A few times today, I had the definite feeling that I was standing where you had stood.

For this one, we were sure in the same spot. Your day looks a little more overcast with a slightly softer light, but the colors are sure changing quickly.

These are inspiring...looks like my wife and I are going to take a little trip over there. I haven't been to the Japenese Gardens yet.

Bruce and Roy real nice shots!

I was over there a couple weeks ago and I have not had the chance to process any of the images yet. I sure wish you could take in a tripod! but $75.00 for one hour is rather pricey for me

I wouldn't know anything about it being the most photographed subject out there....

The second one of your's, Brad, is really nice. I love the colors. Seems there's a different paint job on the railings.

And now for something completely different:

That one's cool, Bruce....

I'm thinking we all need an outing to the Japanese Garden one of these days.. not during festival, though, its already too crowded out there. LOL

By Jove, I think you've got it, Roy.

It looks a little like this. BTW: Again, I believe we were standing in the same place.
