Roof Top - 04-05-2010, 02:26 PM

I have an engagement session coming up and really wanted to use a roof top or balcony to get the the skyline (Ft Worth) in the background. Any ideas on a location? The only thing I can come up with is the parking garage next to the Bass Hall, but not sure if the concrete wall will be to high or if it will look good? I have to check that out this week. Thanks!

I've been chased off of there once, but I think it was just by chance.

Why a rooftop? How about with the Trinity river in the photo ?
Lots of opportunities, and the skyline is good.

For just general shooting or for a scene the security thought looked a bit too much like a business venture? Always a great place to shoot the Bass Hall from.

I do think those walls would be a little high for my tastes. Is there elevated steps on the south side of the courthouse?

We are taking some in a field by the Trinity at sunset but I really wanted something with the buildings close by and a little more modern looking.

Funny story I contacted the Omni Hotel, said I was a wedding photographer asked about using a balcony there for an engagement shoot. The lady emailed me back really quick and scheduled an appointment for me to come by and take a look. Thought that was a little to easy but went ahead. Met the lady, took some sample pictures, and during our conversation she asked what magazine I was with. What? I never said I was with a magazine????? So needless to say, I won't be able to use that location. She was really nice though, but I have no idea where she got that idea from???

You should have told her you were from The Captain, and Tom your editor sent you to the hotel.

Try the new parking garage next to the Movie Tavern on 7th in the new SO7. I haven't been to the top but I bet you can get a great shot from there.

I like that...

Also,

I noticed that there is a roof top location on the Montgomery Building, seems to be a nice patio area I have only seen it from the parking lot and didnt know if it was for the residents that live there but from what I can see it looks like it can be a great spot for photos and you might even be able to get FtW skyline in the back. Anyone else seen this?

You can get a pretty good shot from Belknap/377 before you cross the river, at the parking lot of the strip joint. Not sure the ambiance would foster good client relations, but the skyline angle is pretty nice.

It's not what you asked for, but I like Jeff's idea about using the old courthouse steps. There are some on the south side that, in the afternoon, should be mostly free of defendants and their supportive families.

parking lot for the T&P Lofts (north side of I-30) might have the altitude you want although the angle of downtown is not the best..
