Big D has Dancing Horses! - 11-27-2005, 11:07 PM

We don't get over to see the sites much in the big city of Dallas but Saturday night my son took us to Medieval Times. I expect everybody has already been there but it was new to us and quite the show. Food was good too I took my camera in to see what kind of shots I could get. Here's some of the beautiful horses and they could really strut their stuff!
We had a great time. I might post some more in another thread if I can find some good ones.

Looks like the Lipizzaner stallions show I have seen before....Awesome horses. On your fifth pic down, what was your camera speed and f stop on the pic where the horse was kicking out?

Texaswolflady, I agree that they look like Lipizzaner stallions after taking a look at your link in another post. I had no idea what kind or horse they were before seeing that link but they were good for putting on a show. That fifth photo was my wifes favorite and you can't see real well because of the handler location but he's got all four hooves up and kicking out the rear. Lots of mane just flying all over! Anyway, here are the settings for that one.

Shutter Speed 1/160
Aperture f2.8
ISO 800
Focal length 57mm
Flash off
Aperture Priority mode
Hand Held

The Lipizzaner Stallions do the same moves as in many of these pics....I have tried to capture this shot at when those Stallions were in Tyler but it was always blurry. Shot many rolls of film last time they were here but really wanted that one shot....so when they come again in Jan, I will hopefully capture it this time.

Good luck. It helped to have some bright spots or whatever they were using for light. This one below with the red lights would of been very blurry.

If you're using IE (or Firefox) as your browser there is a great plugin called ViewEXIF that allows you to right click on a photo and view the imbedded EXIF info (if it's there). It will give you shutter speed, ISO, aperture, and a bunch of other useful info. You can download it for free from http://ak.no-ip.com/
