Locale suggestions for Pin up session. - 06-11-2010, 12:40 PM

A client has asked me to do a pin up session of her. However, since I don't have a studio what locations would you suggest would be good to hold this shoot at? I know she wants a summery concept, but I'm not sure outdoors will work. I thought a place with a lot of light or windows would be good. Any suggestions will be appreciated! Thank you, MS.

Monica, you need to work with her regarding location AND wardrobe. What does she have to wear OR is she going shopping? What look does SHE want. Pin up covers SOOOO much. I would suggest getting a pinup book from the book store and then looking at the ones you can recreate. Let her pick the ones that she likes and either has clothing or is willing to buy to get the photos.
You said you weren't sure that outdoors would work??? why not???

Girl on diving board, think Betty Grable in her iconic shot in 1944, with a tennis racket, rollerskating, with a camper, a canoe, having a pic-nick, on a swing in a tree, getting out of a car, wind blowing up her dress, and that is just a few ideas that you could do outside.

Janice,

She did tell me that she will be providing all the wardrobe and concept. As far as a look, I asked and she wants to plan out the concept and have based around summer.
Yes, I started looking online at what other pin up/boudoir sessions look like, from hair, to makeup, etc.
When I mentioned outdoors I thought of a public garden venue and how they would deal with it. I did however envision her on a lounge type chair next to a pool and rooftop pool would be perfect. I know of two locations so far that offer that look, but I would need to see what the client thinks of it first.

Boudoir = bedroom.

If you go outdoors you aren't doing boudoir.

Pinup outdoors ? Possible but why not use a studio where the lighting is controllable ?

It sounds like this might be more of a glamour type shoot, outdoors, etc.
Perhaps you and the client have a good idea of what you want, but I'm not feeling it.

Studio Arlington has an hourly rate, and I might be sweet talked into letting you use my studio :)

David,

Thanks for the info on Studio Arlington.

As of right now I'm still not sure what her concept will consist of. She is a local Spanish singer, but I'm not sure if she's going to want her shoot to reflect or do anything with her music career. I'll just have to wait and see what her concept ideas are.

Ok, you need to read. She said PIN-UP! And we both know that those can be done both in studio and outdoors. (yes, it can be easier in a studio)

My other recommendation would to be to see what her home looks like you might be able to do something there also.
