I have a model who wants me to shoot her in sexy military gear in front of a real tank, Bradley or Humvee. She has this idea of sending something sexy to the troups. Anyone have thoughts on where we can shoot? | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

Your local National Guard post? Mine here in Huntsville had a tank on display, I know the one in Palestine does.

If you were in Austin, I would suggest Camp Mabry. You could almost certainly get the assistance of the PR department as well.
Ft. Hood has a HUGE selection of hardware you could probably use. And it is closer to Dallas than Austin is - but still a bit of a drive. Maybe Ft. Worth NAS?

There is a tank accessible to the public in Sulfer Springs (~60miles east of Dallas) just off I30.
I discovered it from a geocache Tanked - GC1G2M2
There are a couple of snap shots of the tank on the above link.

Cavanaugh Flight Museum, at the Addison Airport, has some military vehicles, including a Sherman Tank.
Don't know if they will let you do a model shoot there, though.

Marty,
I would check with the local army national guard armories, and maybe some vfw's.

Check the storage facility in Keller on Katy Rd.
It is real and runs. The owner takes it out once a month.

There is a privately owned tank here in Tyler. The Lee Baseball team did their senior group shot on it..I will talk to my friend whose son was on that team and see if I can get you a name and phone#

If all these great ideas fall through, look for a large Army/Navy surplus store. One in DFW is bound to have what you are looking for.

Every military installation has a Public Relations Office. You're best best would be to contact them and see if they'd be willing to assist you in your efforts.

Wills Point on Highway 80 there is a veterans memorial park that has a 105mm Howitzer canon and an M60 tank that is open to the public. You can climb up on it and do just about anything you want.

The right to bear arms seems alive and well. I was ready to suggest Killeen or Ft. Hood, but it seems there are many opportunities between here and there. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
