Gothic or dark location - 07-29-2010, 02:12 PM

Hello all, I am looking for one of a few type of places, gothic mantle, or hallway. Or a warehouse type space with large windows for natural light. Or even a morgue or something like it.also a wall with pasely or gotty wallpaper . Doing several dark imagery shots and needing odd spaces to shoot in

Thanks in advance I'm on the lookout..

Not really much goth in dallas scenery wise, your too late for the old Parkland Hospital location (rehabbed into nice office park now). I would just try to find some local goth/chat sites and ask around.

If you can control the lighting to your advantage, there are all kinds of cemeteries out there. Some won't let you go in them at night, though, where you'd be more likely to be able to add light where you want without taming the sun.

What about the tunnels under downtown Dallas? I've never been in any of them, so I don't know how "goth-y" they are. Maybe?

I dont know the specifics of your situation and your skill level, but one alternative is to shoot the models in the studio with a location to be added later in postprocessing. If the focal length used with the models and the focal length used for the background are not too dissimilar, and the lighting is done right, the results can be credible.

Here are some interesting backgrounds from iStockphoto

Texxter, great backgrounds but still wanting to get the feel without doing a post background.

Right now we are working on getting ready for the season. (I'm about to head that way to continue my work wiring sound this evening.)

We have, in the past, done a group shoot up there for fun.... I could arrange something again.
