Creative Session - 12-07-2005, 09:17 PM

I am looking for some people that are very creative with photography. You all have seen my water drop photos and I would like to hook up with some photographers that are looking for new types of shots. I want to break all the rules, I dont care about the rule of thirds, weither somthing is cliche, if it has been done before. I want to create a new type of photography that is well......................CRAZY. Forget the RULES, FORGET THE (the lighting is just not perfect). I want to find somthing in photography that is quick, fun as hell to watch and will get people lined up to buy some photos. If you have been to Westend you all have seen the guy who spraypaints these crazy images. Well, that is the type of thing I am looking for. If anyone in the dfw area is interested in this and is forward thinker and wants to experiment (BIG TIME), let me know. I was thinking we could meet and brainstorm some ideas and then make them happen. I am all for fun and new things. Let me know. If knowbody is interested, well that is ok also. Just remember, if we do this, the meeting will probably be CHAOS, nothing will be orginized, and we will all be that much crazier after it is done just from the lack of orginization, but, it will be a fun time. How many people will fill the roster for the first crazy night out.......10. TEN. that is it, 10, no more, no less (unless only 9 show up then the count will be 9) :O)

FYI, I have no ideas right now, that is why I need you!!! :O)

I'm sorry putting the number at 10 is just too organized for me. Now saying anyone can show up or not is more intriguing and more chaotic.

If I knew an approximate time and an approximate place I might be able to chaotically arrive approximately. I'm a little more organized than that, but open to chaotic suggestions.

I could be up for this. . . depending on time and place of course. . . would have to work it in between Christmas shopping and sitting for hours on end at the Naval Air Station. . .

Since I don't know most of the "rules" of photography anyways (and the ones I do know, I like to break), I sound like I will fit right in! Post the time/date and I will see if the calendar allows it!

Ok, lets move forward. - 12-11-2005, 12:10 AM

Awesome, sounds like people want to get together and do something. I guess the next step is to set a date/time, see who all wants to get together and then brainstorm an idea for a shoot. I will propose that we meet this coming Sat (12/17/2005) in the evening.

Seeing this is a creative session I would like everyone that wants to participate to come up with a unique idea and propose it to the group. When we all get our ideas out then we can choose one to focus on for the Sat shoot.

Also, if more people want to come other then ten, what can I say, the more the... well you get the point.

Ideas:
1. Still Life with Motion Lights - This might not be new but it is different: The idea is to freeze a subject (person, dog, cat, etc.) while also capturing unique light patterns (in motion, frozen, or perhaps lights that actually add to the frozen subject like using a laser to add items to your subject: ex: You have a person pose then use a laser to add articles of clothing to the person or laser horns on the person, or glasses with only one exposure). I have no idea how this would work but that is the point, to get the group of people together to figure it out. Next!!!
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.

#2 (?) Same idea as #1, except definitely use a model/person. Focus only on body parts as opposed to the entire person. Not implying anything rude here, they can just as well be fully clothed... :-)

#3 X-ray vision....
photograph a subject (person or thing) and then re photograph it somehow and combine the two images for a truly x-ray like photo.......i.e. shoot a skeleton and then a person and combine.... shoot the inside of a tv and combine with outside....

Was thinging about the light to use, instead of a laser we could use a neon light, different colors, would be cool a cool effect to turn the light on brifly and swing the light from left to right to create a dress or somthing. Not sure where to get a neon tube like that though.

Whitecrow, do you have a model in mind that would like to play with us?

Also, Tom, I love your idea of X-Ray. Is there a way we might look at the X-Ray idea but instead of two exposures make it one? Somehow expose a skeleton then expose the person but with one shot, using flash and long exposure maybe??? Hmmm, think about that.

We will also need a place to meet, any ideas? For the lighting ideas we would need a place that we can black out.
