Fort Worth Botanical Gardens ? - 08-18-2010, 10:22 AM

I have a client who want to do their family session at the fort worth botanical gardens. I've never been there before and the only time they can do the session at is 9am. This frightens me...unknown location and bright sun. lol

So which area do you think would be the best for a 9am session on a Saturday? The clients are paying the $25/hr photography fee they require and we are able to shoot in the following locations:

Trial Garden
Perennial Garden
Lower Rose Garden
Horseshoe Circle
Oval Rose Garden
Fragrance Garden

Wasn't sure if they are all near eachother and within walking distance or if we should choose one area and stick to it? Any suggestions as to which area might have the most shade?

Thanks!

Rose Garden has a some Shade in the upper portion, then if you go downstairs and hang a left there is a covered walkway that is nice. In the lower rose garden there is a gazeebo.

Sara, there are lot's of mature growth hardwoods all along the road (and in the little park area across from the Japanese Gardens) that should provide the shade your looking for.

Sara, don't sweat it. They're all walking distance of each other. Just show up a little early, walk around a bit and you should be able to figure out for yourself which is the best spot.

Are you coming from Katy? I hope they're paying your gas, too!

There are lots of possibilities. Like Khampha said, getting there early and mapping out your strategy will serve you much better than whatever we can tell you. I've assisted on some sessions in the Japanese Gardens (not part of your permit), and the variety is killer. The rest of the garden is the same in a different way.

There are so many good spots, it's an easy location to shoot. I wish I had more clients who wanted to be photographed there.
