Keep An Eye Out Please! - 08-25-2010, 03:02 PM

So on Monday of this week, my house was broken into in East Plano and all of my computer, camera, laptop gear.....everything was stolen. It happened between 12pm and 5:30pm while I was at work.

I am insured (homeowners and secondary camera ins) but I would really like to see if I am able to find any of it in the area. Since its all registered I have proof of whats mine, along with all the serial numbers (yay for being OCD).

Really the only reason Im so vigilant about this is they kicked my cat and injured her. Stuff can be replaced by my 1 year old baby kitty cannot be. So im a little peeved....

Please keep an eye out on the following, if you see something fishy, please contact me: ryan@mindofryan.net

If someone gives me information which leads to an arrest, I will personally hand them a 6pack (if of age), and $100 cash.

Items stolen:

- Canon 5D (not mark 2) w/ Battery Grip
- Canon 40D w/ Battery Grip ( BGE2, NOT BGE2N )
- Canon 24-70mm F/2.8mm L
- Canon 70-200mm F/2.8mm L
- Canon 50mm F/1.8
- Canon 18-55mm
- 52mm, 67mm, 72mm Hoya Circular Polarizers
- Wolf Camera Brand 52mm and 72mm UV Filters
- 2 x 8 Gig Sandisk Extreme Compact Flash Cards
- 2 x 4 Gig Sandisk Ultra III Compact Flash Cards
- Lowepro AW Slingshot Bag
- Black Macbook ( it will have a secondary partition for windows, 10gig )
- Dell Latitude 530 w/ 2 stickers on it. One is a popscicle sticker
- 2 x 500gig External harddrives ( Western Digital )
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and will be repaid any way that I can right now. Please do not put yourself in danger, I have homeowners insurance, and personal property insurance, so its not worth it. This is merely to see what I can dig up.

Thanks,
Ryan Page

Sorry to hear about it Ryan. I would contact Canon and Apple to report your items stolen. That's the best thing to do then hope for the best.

If you had the serial numbers for the items, that would make it easier to spot your stuff as well.

Thanks for the kind words.

All of my equipment was registered, and I still have the serial numbers / boxes as well.

The macbook has turned up on craigslist ( were almost 110% sure ), and some other stuff has turned up in pawn shops.

Will update as we go, but heres to hoping for good news!

They caught the guy yesterday. I dont know if they arrested him or what, but they just said hes in custody.

They matched the fingerprint for my mantle to him. He had burglarized other houses in my neighborhood too. Thankfully, he had a prior conviction of whatever, and they were able to match the fingerprints without him.

Also, they matched my macbook serial number to one in his posession. He was trying to sell another white one, and a 42" panasonic flat screen as well....so yea, not too bright. Glad I looked on craigslist.

Thanks goes to everyone for the support, and for the leads. Thanks goes to Plano PD and detective John Dalton as well. I dont think he slept in the past week haha.

You are so fortunate... Hopefully you can recover most of your items. How does it work if they are in pawn shops?

I lost EVERYTHING I own in 2008, and none of it was ever recovered.

I'm happy for you, though admittedly a little jealous.
