Has anyone been to this before? I am not sure what the best time of day to be there for photos is...maybe the evening balloon glow? Is there anything else to see during the day (I can't get to Plano by 7AM for the launch). Plano Balloon Festival - Plano, Texas
Tickets $5

I'm sure there are some photos from past events posted here. The morning launch, to me, is the most fantastic spectacle, although the evening glow is nice. Really depends on what the weather and wind is doing, though. Past events have been hampered by too much wind.

I go in the morning, I'm sure there's thing to do down there (concerts and displays) during the day but I like to watch the ballons fly.

Tickets $5 | We went to the balloon glow two years ago. It's a great opportunity to get some neat pictures, and they had fireworks afterward. Be prepared for a trek, a wait for buses, and a large crowd. We ended up just walking back to the DART station....
The quality of these images isn't great, but it gives you an idea.

I haven't been there in the morning, but have been there in the evening. I think the launch AND the afterglow are certainly good photo ops. I like getting shots of balloonists firing up the burners, too.

I went on Saturday night, it was really neat. Here are a few shots - all handheld with D700 and 24-70 or 70-200 VR. Outstanding set of images Ted. I really like 2213, that is a wonderful photo. Great job, great colors.
Looks like a lot of fun.
