Scenic curvy road in north Dallas area? - 09-15-2010, 10:54 AM

I'm looking to shoot some classic car photos and am looking for a scenic, curvy, hopefully hilly stretch of road in north Dallas to shoot on.

Does anybody know of such a spot?

Thanks,

Brian

White Rock Lake is nice but I'm really looking for something a little more rural and/or rustic.

In north Dallas? I think you're going to have to venture out of the city.

I agree that I'll have to go outside the city. I'm looking for someplace hopefully within an hour or so of Plano.

Try the Santa Cruz mountains near San Jose, CA. Specifically Hwy 9 between Saratoga and Ben Lomand.

Oops. You said Dallas. Sorry, as far as I'm concerned, what you're looking for doesn't exist here.

OK in that case, +1 to Paco^. You might also try the area around Lake Texoma or Lake Ray Roberts. Good luck. Let us know where you end up.

More than an hour, but less than the drive to CA would be Glen Rose. Lots of curvy roads there. And some privacy also.

Thanks for the suggestions. I like the California idea - I was just out there a couple of weeks ago - but it's a little far to get the car.

Any of you got pictures of the roads near Weston or Glen Rose?

Thanks again.

If you really want some beautiful scenic roads, go to Talihina. Outside of that, we have very little to choose from. This route makes for a decent (albeit short) motorcycle ride on a Sunday morning from Plano. There are little hills and turns which should help you find a decent spot, traffic is not too bad once off the main roads. I would do a test drive to find the spot you really want; be sure to explore the little side roads that split off of here.

Melissa, TX to Farm to Market Rd 545/E Melissa Rd - Google Maps

Another great area if your willing to go a little further out is above Pat Mayse Lake. FM 197 Between Newt and Arthur City. This road will also give you what you want, but it is pretty remote, and there is no services in the area.

You might check out the area around Park Lane just east of Inwood Road
