This was my first air show in a long time. I did miss most of it but was able to catch some pics of the Blue Angels with my new Sony A55. Seeing everyone there with telephoto lenses did make me feel some what inadequate but I am saving for I think a Sony 70-300G SSM now. Here are some of the 874 pics I shot during the show.
Do you think that the Sony 70-300g lens would be a decent telephoto for this kind of sport photograph? I also go to drag races, motto cross races, and enjoy bird watching with the wife. Or would you suggest a different power range magnification all together?
Thanks!

Great shot Sheri! What lens did you use? BTW.. it looks like you have two specs of dust on your sensor. You may want to use a spot healing tool to remove that from the picture. Other than that it looks great!

Thanks... used the 100-400mm zoom set at 300mm. Shot at 1/80 sec. Think the dust is on the lens itself... there was a LOT of wind. Haven't had time to do anything other than crop. I am at work and don't have good software here. I took almost 5000 pictures. Still looking thru them. It is like a treasure hunt. I keep finding gems that excite me :0)

I went over to a field at Intermodal and Railhead on Friday Afternoon, for a different perspective. This shot is from Intermodal. They were coming from the West in this shot, the sun behind them to the South.

Alliance is full of day and dusk surprises. Driving by one Sunday there was a pristine B-25 Mitchell taking off, another time at dusk an F-18 was making approaches with afterburner on departures.
The security guard at a drilling site told me that about 11:30PM there were many arrivals. Sounded like Fed-Ex and UPS. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
