'Perfect' photos for $25-30/hr? I think that's most likely well below (4-5x at least) what any reputable photographer would charge. Just giving you a data point to consider.

Yes, they asked me what I would do it for, and told them we would no longer be friends if I told them considering the setup,space....etc. Maybe someone will jump on it, that know lighting??

Also, it would be roughly 60-75 cars a month you would shoot.

Is this a car dealership? How many shots are the looking to do for each car? Are they exterior, interior, both? Are these fine-art images or are they just clean images for posting vehicles online? All of these questions say a lot about the time it will take to complete each car.

If they are truly looking to do 60-75 cars a month, and based on your numbers, that is 130 hours (based on 65 cars), with 21 working days in a month, your looking at about 6 hours a day of shooting. Sounds to me like it would make more sense to hire a full time photog, or do a per unit price billed monthly.

Also, setting an expectation of perfect pictures with lackluster equipment is a recipe for failure.

Just out of curiosity, why are you not shooting this for them?

Hey Warren, they are wanting both exterior and interior shot. About 30-40 total. Just clean images for their website.

Yes, they are open to hiring someone fulltime, I think that's their main goal. Either per hr, or monthly salary, I really didn't get into numbers with them that much. So therefore cant really say what they will pay. If I was closer to them, and the space was bigger, I would do it, but I am not, and the space is too small for my liking. I can make it work and did, but its a challenge..but still very doable with what they have.

Hey, you can get clean images at iso 800 with the 50D @f8 with those lights!!!!

Really, the ideal person would be someone that likes a challenge, knows about lighting, and they hate their current job! Ha, good luck right??!!

I'm not putting too much effort into finding someone, just throwin it out there.

Have you seen the lighting setups from professional automobile studio shoots? Massive softboxes for one.
I'm not knocking you for offering the work, that's cool.
It's just that the description of their expectations seem a little off with the description of the studio space and equipment.

Oh trust me, I know what it takes to get magazine quality for autos, been there, done that.

Yes, I agree, they want alot for what they have, hence one of the reasons i don't want to do it everyday, well, that and the drive out there for me is brutal.
