Exclamation urban trendy family session - 11-11-2010, 12:25 PM

I'm looking for a location for my family's first photo session- coming up in TWO WEEKS.

Searching for something in the Garland/Mesquite/Dallas location, OR somewhat nearby. Travel not a big deal.

We are a young, urban trendy family, and our house/decor is the same. Would like to use the pics for wall decor and for Christmas cards. We'd like to do something other than traditional "open park/fountain" family pics. Leaning more towards "train tracks/graffiti" type scenery.

Extremely open to neat, fun, off the wall options. Any ideas or suggestions??? 2 adults, 2 boys- 7 & 8.

Agree that Deep Ellum is a great – if not overused – spot, but absolutely and positively stay off the train tracks. Not only is it illegal to be on them, but it's highly dangerous. On the other hand, the DART train stops (particularly the one on Good Latimer near the "emerging man" sculptures) is really cool.

I had read your post and remembered it as i was on my way to lake Tawakoni yesterday. It's a bit of a drive, but there's a building made from that corrugated metal and just covered in grafitti. Let me know if your interested and I'll try to provide you with more specific directions.

Lizzy,

Are you looking for a photograher to shoot it for you or you looking for a location that you will shoot at?

I re-read her post, and then wondered the same thing. Except that her first question is seeking a location.

Hey yall, thanks for the responses!! VERY helpful. Sorry I wasn't exactly clear. Yes, I'm only looking for a location. I have a photographer, my manager at work is actually a photographer, so we're having her do this shoot. Thanks for the offers (I think that's what yall were getting at). In the future, I'll keep this site and all of yall in mind and put up a post. I hadn't found this site until after I had already scheduled an appointment. I'm really excited about the site, GREAT resource!!

I think we'll be shooting at Deep Ellum after all. Thanks again!! :o)

another option (less scary) - downtown mckinney. also, downtown grapevine near the train station. very family-friendly, albeit crowded and christmassy this time of year.
