The obligatory shot from the Gaylord - 12-14-2005, 10:12 PM

If you go to the Gaylord Texan hotel, this is just one of those shots you have to take... This is at 17mm (I need something wider!).

If you can go, check the place out. It's all decked out for the holidays.

Hey Joe,

Great shots as usual. Any camera problems with the cold temps? Did you shoot with your usual camera?

Thanks!

Nancy

Just a note on cold temps... I just returned from a week in South Dakota. Night temps were anywhere from 0 to -16 and days were -10 to +30. My cameras (D70 and D2x) were left in my truck by day as I hunted and hotel by night. Truck never really warmed up, left it parked most of the day. No problems anywhere. Batteries were fine. The only precaution I took was after they were cold soaked in the truck I left them in my bag to warm up slowly to avoid condensation once getting back to the hotel. But taking them in and out of the truck to shoot and walk around was no problem. Even with gloves on I was able to manipulate the D2x controls fairly well for my first effort in those temps. D70 was a little more of a challenge. Always felt like it was going to slip....

Yeah, no problem with the cold. It's 9 degrees in there but it's not very big. There are like 5 large rooms with displays and you go through it rather quick (it was crowded as well when I was there so they ask you to keep moving).
