TCU’s Amon G. Carter Stadium west grandstand will be imploded on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010 around 8 a.m. On the day of the implosion, a restricted zone will be established surrounding the stadium along the streets of Cantey Drive, Stadium Drive, and Bellaire Drive North. That morning, TCU will close the following streets beginning at approximately 5:00 a.m.:
• Bellaire Drive North from Bellaire Drive West to Stadium Drive
• Stadium Drive from Bellaire Drive North to West Cantey Street
• Cantey Street from Stadium Drive to the creek
This is done as an added precautionary measure and to control the flow of people and traffic. The Fort Worth Police Department and the TCU Campus Police will be assisting in the patrolling and clearing of streets.
VIEWING LOCATIONS:
The public can watch the implosion anywhere outside the restricted zone. The Brown-Lupton University Union will be open at 7 a.m. to provide access to restrooms and coffee will be available for purchase in Union Grounds. Market Square will offer a special price for brunch immediately following the implosion. Residence Halls are not open to the public. Parking for the public on the west side of campus will be limited and the lots near the soccer and baseball stadiums, as well as at Sandage Dr. and McCart Ave., on the east side of campus, will not be available.
DELAYS:
On the day of the event, the frog horn will be used to signal the implosion at five minutes til with four short blasts of the horn and again at one minute with one long blast. The frog horn will sound again when the implosion is complete with three short blasts.
