I am working on a small project with a group of 5-6 people and we need a good urban area to shoot in. Does anyone have any recommendations for a relatively safe place for these kind of shots.

Thanks!

How Urban do you need.
Perhaps the NRH GreenValley City Park on Smithfield Rd, or NoRich Park which is behind my house, or if more urbin, Southlake Town Center on 1709.

Thanks for the thoughts. I haven't thought about the Southlake Town Center, that is a great idea!

I see that you are using the Mark II...I had the opportunity to use one the other day and fell in love. That is a great great piece of equipment!

I really do like it. It must have about the greatest Auto White balance available right now. It practically never misses. And it's speed is fantastic. A Really fine camera!

How about Magnolia street in Ft Worth, south of the hospital district, say between Hemphill on the east, and about 10-12 blocks to the west. Lots of interesting buildings, and they have re-built enough around there that I doubt that youd' have any safety issues. My wife and I have prowled the street in the afternoons without any troubles. Don't know about after dark.

Southlake Town Square is excellent and safe if you want new looking backgrounds. Keller has one too, but not quite the concentration of S-Lake. Also for a French look, Colleywood (Colleyville) is building one, on 26.

Jerry, thanks a lot for the suggestions. The Hemphill area is more of what I am looking for although I plan on using S.lake town center also. I am looking for for both new urban looks and "gritty" older stuff as well.

Thanks again!

Bumping this back up - 07-05-2005, 03:38 PM

I know this thread is a bit old, but I'm bumping it back up in the hopes that someone can direct me to some great areas as well.

I need something in Dallas. I need something that's safe during the day and/or early evening.

Someone mentioned Lower Greenville to me.
Since I'm not a native Dallasite (is that the proper term?), is this a good idea?

Please share your thoughts. :)
