Saw these at the Frisco Commons Park and thought it would be nice to share. Lets remember all of the troops that were not fortunate to spend Christmas with their family.

Great thread........My son is in the Air Force and was not able to come home this year. He was on base, but did not have any leave to take. His dad passed away this past summer and our son (we were divorced) used many days of advance leave to spend time with his dad before he passed away. It was his first Christmas without his dad and kinda rough. I remember how rough the holidays were for me when my parents passed away. I asked him if he needed me to come up but he wanted to be by himself this year but I am planning a trip up to where he is stationed next year.

Debby, sorry to hear about your son not getting to spend time with you and having to deal with the death of his father this year. When you go up to visit him please pass along my thanks for his service to our country.

Debby
As a Vet, I understand the loneliness that can befall a soldier away from home.
But, you can find some comfort in knowing that the military is also aware of this, and they do everything they can to make the holidays servivable. Also, sometimes it is better to ride out the storm alone at sea rather than be in a crowded harbor.

Thanks............even though his dad and I divorced when he was young, we did our best to keep him out of any "discussions". I have seen parents who put their kids in the middle of their problems and have seen the damage it can do to a child.

Our son has a good head on his shoulders and knows his dad was very proud of him....and his mom also.

I think its a responsibility we all share to take time to think of those that serve on our behalf. The freedoms we have we owe to those that serve and those that served before them.
