Question about taking photos at stars or cowboys practice - 12-28-2005, 05:30 PM

Anyone know if you can take pictures at the Dallas stars or Dallas Cowboys open to the public pratices? I would like to take action shots since I have never really ventured into it. I have a friend who is the coach for the plano desperados and he is giving me access to the team practices, but I didnt realize they are a little leauge type group! hehehe I guess pickers cant be choosers, but I would like to take pics at the open practices of the stars or cowboys if possible.

I know when the Cowboys had training camp in Wichita Falls they let you bring cameras. I never heard that you couldn't take pics.

Can't speak for the Cowboys, but I've been to a Stars practice before and shot a lot of images...

(The rest are located here.)

The lady at the front desk of the StarCenter said she didn't think it was OK to take pics, but several other folks were doing it with P/S cameras, so I brought out my XT, and nobody said a thing.

Training camp should be no problem. . . but when they practice at Valley Ranch I am 100% sure they would not allow it. . .

Usualy, if you are allowed in, you are allowed to shoot,(even on private property like office buildings or malls) unless it is expressly forbiden.

I just figured that since you cant bring a camera into MOST Pro Sporting Events and most concerts, They would not allow it at the practices or training camps....Im glad to see that they allowed it at a stars practice! thats cool.......I might try to do that this upcoming year

what is the point to shoot practice, not the same effect as games...start with low level and claim up to more advance games, College, and someday Pro...I tried practice/scrimmage and I didn't like it at all. IMHO

I went to the Stars practice today and there were plenty of people with cameras. Of course I took mine, but no photos to post. Marty Turco and his son were the only skaters. Guess the game and all of the fights yesterday took their toll.
