Lone Star Rising!

This is a discussion on Lone Star Rising! within the Dallas / Fort Worth forums, part of the Texas category; Inspired by the Dallas Skyline shoot (which I missed) I thought I'd try my hand from the same spot....

Very nice! I'm not sure which one I like best. Both are good.

Very nice results. Where exactly did you shoot from?

Nice shots - the top of that parking garage is a great location to take pictures of downtown from. Just FYI, the horizon on those two shots is *slightly* non-level. Most people wouldn't even notice.

Very nice dusk shot. Where is that parking garage? Should I go armed?

Looks like your trip to the parking garage really paid off. These are super photos. With your positive attitude and eye, there won't be many around here you'll take a back seat to.

Thanks. You're right, I can see the horizon skew in the top photo.
Have a harder time seeing it in the night shot.

Do you use Photoshop to process your pics? If so they have a Measure Tool (one of the tools under the eye dropper) that lets you drag a line along what should be a straight vertical or horizontal part of the picture. In this case you could use the edge of the BOA building. Then go to Image->Rotate Canvas->Arbitrary and the amount of rotation you need in order to straighten the picture will already be filled in. Quick and easy.

Thanks, everyone.

Wow, engstrom. Now that's a tip I can put to use immediately. I've just been guessing up until now.

Cynthia, sorry I missed you. I was there earlier from about 5:30 to a little after 6:00. Just long enough to try out the tripod and the remote switch.

Not a problem, John. And if something should happen, no worries, you're already at the hospital.
