They have a continuing education course, starting 1/18/2006, called Conceptual Photography. It is supposed to teach unique techniques and photo critique. The catalog says it will cover color, balance, framing and use of light. It sounds interesting and I'm considering signing up. The cost is $90 and its 7 sessions (Wednesday nights 7-9pm).

Maybe a few of us can meet up and take the class together.

I haven't taken that one.. but I have taken a couple of the nature photography classes... I didn't get a lot out of them other than an opportunity to hang out with some like minded people.

Can you provide a little more information about this class, please. What is their URL to read more on-line and to register? Thank you.

So Stevil, have you decided if you're going to take a class? I've been thinking about taking a class somewhere - community college or fun-ed type thing - but haven't found any that were what I was looking for. Basically I want a combination of good critiques of photographs along with tips for taking better pictures and how to get the most out of the pictures with PP.

Here's the link for the class:

I haven't decided yet if I'm going, but I'm leaning towards it. My schedule is kinda up in the air for the next few months while I try to sell my current home, but I might have to make some time for this.

I noticed they also have an Introduction to Photography course and a Nature and Wildlife course offered through continuing ed... too bad I live in the Lake Worth area; Arlington is a hike!

Link to course catalog for photography courses...

From what I've heard, if you know anything at all about photography, you'll be bored to tears in the intro class.... the nature class used to be taught by Barry Baker: http://www.photoworkshops.biz/ .... Don't know if he still is.

I'd be totally in... I just don't think I have a way to get to the classes. On Wednesdays my wife has the car for her classes. I ride the train to work. I'm working on figuring out a mode of transport.... WHO else is interested in this class?

I think I will be signing up for this class. Like Brad warns, it maybe a little boring, but for $90...I'm sure I'll get $90 worth out of the class, even if its just in contacts made. Heck I've spent more on photography books that I deemed useless within the first 10 minutes of opening the cover.

Let me know if any of you sign up too; we can meet up at the first class.

Richland Program might be similar - 01-04-2006, 01:01 PM

I've taken a class at Richland, part of the DCC system, and these run around $99. For lab time only it is completely worth it. As someone without there own personal darkroom this is beneficial. It's just that you have to process what the class is teaching and make sure you are somewhat close to the assignments.

The class sounds interesting but it does not state if you must have a film camera or if Digital will be fine.

You know Paul, I didn't think about that, but UTA does have a lot of Digital Photo Classes, so my digi cam should be ok. Heck I already have a homemade pinhole lens for it.

Well if memory serves me correctly, photomontage and photogram have to do with creating something in a chemical lab.
