Actually not a bad place to shoot, several of the bronze cowboys on horseback in the scultpure in the Plaza along with a couple dozen bronze longhorns-all about 120% or so of life size. You have City Hall Plaza just a couple blocks away and also the old cemetary. BTW parking meters there are free on Sundays.

May be worth while on doing a TPF Dallas/Metroplex meet and shoot one sunday soon. Today there were a lot of people climbing all over the statues so couldn't get some shots that I wanted to shoot, waited at least 5 minutes for one family with kids to step away from one of the cattledrivers was just ready to shoot and this other group ran up-gave me about 10 seconds to get a shot off without them in it.

So a cold day would be more condusive to shooting than a nice warm day.

I did this purposefully as a sillouette, this was the one that I had to wait for the people to climb off of the statue so I had to compose in advance and then sneak the shot in.

Great idea.. I shot this place a couple years ago.. December 30, I think... there are cool angles and such to shoot down there. Would be an interesting group shoot.

There are some great lighting posibilities late in the afternoon right now and with no leaves on the trees it offers a bit more light coming in. BUT THERE MUST HAVE BEEN 100+ People there today from 4:00-5:15 or so.

Pioneer Plaza... - 01-02-2006, 12:47 AM

Since I work only a few blocks away...I have really enjoyed walking down and snapping some photos over my lunch break.

Here's a few images that I've taken recently:

Great place to shoot however it does get very busy. I recommend going very early in the morning. The cemetery is a great place as well.

DEM, I really like that 2nd picture. If you could have bracketed the shot to get a sky that wasn't blown and then combined the two it would have been perfect! I think you're right - a TPF get together there would be fun.
