Woodman's circle home - 06-08-2011, 11:41 AM

Hello all! Does anyone know anything about the woodman's circle home in sherman, tx? I live in mckinney and am always search the net for interesting places to shoot close by, and this came up. Sherman isn't too far north of me, and was curious if anyone has gone up there to shoot or knows anything about the place (access, location, etc).

Look forward to the responses. Blessings!

It's trespassing, and it's got a fence... but if you feel so inclined, yes.. it's worth a visit. Although, it's in quite disrepair now and it's spray painted up and trashed. The upstairs is a bit shakey as well...

Personally, I wouldn't bother with it, but your mileage may vary.

I went out to Sherman last weekend... spur of the moment kind of thing after reading a few things about Woodmans. It occured to me that I didn't actually record directions or where the home was. I did stop off the side of the road in one spot to shoot these barn type structures surrounded by open field. Fireworks stand there with plenty of cars in and out so I didn't feel so "alone" in that open space. One of the structures was covered with vines and plant grown on the front side... got a great shot out of it. It seemed like a heck of a long drive even from Irving so make sure you want to be there to get your shots because there isn't much else going on in the area. I also noticed that there isn't much for photo ops along 75 going north or south. I like traveling along 35 getting close to OK and a little beyond. There are so many old, vacant houses along there surrounded by open fields you just can't help but pull over and snap.

Brian an alternative route to get to the area which is much more scenic IMHO is 289. 289 North from 380, provides some excellent views to the west.

There's plenty more to shoot up that way.

Carpenters Bluff Bridge on the red river. Eisenhower state park, Hagerman Wildlife Refuge, and plenty of other spots on Lake Texoma. Lots of others I'm probably leaving out.
