That's hilarious. Great shots. It was difficult with the rising sun to get the right exposure, or so I thought. Everyone's shots look right on the money. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

Hey Joe,
That first shot you posted, was that with the 85mm 1.4? D200 or D2x? Just wondering how your continuous focus worked with an AF-D lens.

Evil, that was with the 85/1.4 but it was on the D2X (I used that during sun-up) and the focus speed was less than I'm used to, a lot less. Out of 5 running shots, I would get one usable. I even tried manual for a sequence but I'm out of practice there and those cats move fast.
I also used the 85/1.4 on the D200 and didn't notice much of a difference in focusing speed between the two bodies. I won't be using this lens for much sports work anymore.

_/oe | I know the speed can be frustrating, but when you hit, you hit big. That one shot was worth all the moments of frustration. I love the way the 85mm renders the bokeh in that early morning light.

Yep, you're right. That lens is everything everyone says it is. If they come out with an AFS version like I keep dreaming they will, I'll be first in line. | | | |

I am not a morning person, I am not a morning person....great pics!...I am not a morning person....Very well done Joe!....ok, ok, maybe I'm starting to get a notion to say, "I am a morning person". I don't think I ever finished the edits on the last batch of photos I shot of the tigers late last year, but failing to remember and tote along my VR70-200 Nikkor (see, I'm not a morning person!) found me shooting with my budget 75-300 Tamron, and the results were humbling in comparison. So, I do need to get back out to McKinney again...maybe come February I'll do that.
Again, great photos!
