First Wedding Photo Shoot - 08-11-2011, 08:56 AM

I will be shooting my first wedding next Saturday and I am looking for tips and advice. The place she is having it only allows for 2 hours. They can arrive 30 minutes before the cermeony and then after the ceremony I will only have an hour to shoot. I would love some great pointers I want to make this a GREAT, SUCCESSFUL shoot.

I have a Cannon Digital, what would be the best equipment to take since it will be inside?

Thank you everyone

Fast (F/2.8 or better) lenses and off-camera flashes with remote triggering are absolute necessities.

I agree with Tom about fast lenses, which are always a requirement for indoor weddings. 2 hours, is actually a lot of time, as a lot of churches will give you 15 minutes or so afterwards for formals (especially if there is another wedding afterwards).

Equipment suggestions might be easier if we knew more about your situation. Do you know how to use flashes (either on camera or off)? Do you have the funds to rent equipment if you don't own it? What kind of lenses do you own/have access to? How many people are in the bridal party? Do you have someone you can take with you as an assistant to hold off camera flashes or reflectors or things like that (granted you'd only need a reflector if you decide to do outdoor shots)? Are you shooting just some individual shots, couple shots and formals? Do you know anything about posing people?

When you start looking at these specifics, there are lots of suggestions about all of these on the forum. Feel free to let us know exactly what you want to know, but you can also try searching the forum. Lots of information. For instance, there is great advice on portraits here. I ran across it when looking through this thread: FAQ for New TPF Members

Lots of info on this forum. Good luck with the wedding.
