FW Nature Center: Been there lately? - 01-20-2006, 11:27 PM

Anyone been out to the FW Nature Center lately? I'm wondering, with the drought in the dead of "winter", if it would be worth the trip.

I went out there a week or so ago and really didn't even get out of the car. It just didn't seem worthwhile to me. Maybe if I had gotten out and hiked around I would have found something neat. I wouldn't recommend driving a long way. Wait til spring. Go someplace close to home, or do the zoo again.

Was there last Saturday but for less than an hour. Right now it's still free or it was last Saturday. There's some wildlife to see, I just wish we weren't so rushed. I'll go early next time I go. We were there long enough to see a couple of these.

He was only about 15 feet away. I had my 70-200 lens on him. There was another one that was so busy I nearly stepped on it. There was an article in Fridays Star-Telegram about how they come out in the daylight and show less fear because they are so busy searching for food due to the drought. Not positive but this armadillo looked just like the one they pictured in the front page of the paper to me.

Thumbs up Nice Dillo Shot - 01-21-2006, 02:10 AM

Nice Dillo Shot, Roy. He does look just like the one in the FWST whose picture was taken out there. Maybe they have him chained for the tourists. :)
