Locales Tour 2006 - 02-06-2006, 01:47 PM

I believe having a set date each month for us to GTG in the Dallas area would be a pretty attended event. When given a month to plan for a date a lot more people can work it into their schedules.

Here are the details of the 2006 DFW Locales Tour
-Once a month (A poll has been posted to determine the best day, time will vary depending on the event for that month)
-Open GTG (anyone can participate)
-Purpose: to socialize, take pictures, network with photographers, talk about our long lens and document our local photo ops for TPF forum.
-Sites: We will pick one or two locations per GTG to visit and take pictures.
-Schedule: Each event will be different... I will post a schedule for that event two weeks before the date of the GTG... Depending on the day we finalize the GTG we could also plan in eating/drinking opportunities for those interested.. again would be determined by the event.
-Documentation: We have a sub forum dedicated to locales information. I think it would be awesome if every month we posted a new thread in that forum with the following information.
+Site Name, Description, History, Images, Directions, Tips and Expense information.

Vote for your favorite date!

I like the idea of regular get togethers. I would certainly make plans around a set/regular day. I say let's do it.

I would be interested in a regular get together. I don't like Photo Clubs so a TPF member gathering with a regular timeframe would be good.

It is hard for people to meet without someone having a conflict but at least they may be able to schedule to attend if they know it will happen on a certain time each month. Maybe not this month but maybe they can meet next month.

If we get enough response... I will set up a schedule and coordinate the meet each month... I will get more information out as I see the response to this idea.

Well, first off, I am having a little gtg at the Fort Worth Japanese Gardens tomorrow... meet at the gate around 10am.. with the challenge of the day is to shoot with a single prime lens (or a single focal length if you only have zooms).

NOTE: RE-READ the first post of this thread.... it has updated information in it.

A poll has been posted for dates that would work best each month for the GTG

its a tough situation... we have two different groups

-work weekdays, have school week days or travel for work weekdays

-work weekdays but make their own schedule or do photography as a job, but usually have weekend commitments

The only fair way to do it is to first poll the weekend vs weekday... i will get the poll edited

Thanks,

This is a great idea......I am not wild about Photo clubs myself. Where I live, it would have to be a weekend for me.........
