Well, surprisingly for me, I like the flower shot the best. It's really well done. Welcome to the forum!

Those are very nice. I too like the flowers and also the one of the girl on the tree branch. Do you have a gallery online with the others from your session? I'd like to see them.

I like the one with her on the tree. Very cute, and even though it is posed it looks more natural to me than the first one. Time for me to hit the arboretum soon :)

I'm trying to find a place to do some Bridal portraits and the Arboretum would be perfect. Do you know if there's a fee to take these types of photos there?

Those pink tulips would be a beautiful backdrop.

Great shots.

Bridal Portraits - 03-20-2005, 05:26 PM

Some bridal portraits can be taken without a fee. Below is direct quote from the Arboretum's website:

Photography in the Garden – Non-Commercial
There is no fee for non-commercial photographers.
Individual bridal photography is permitted during normal operating hours with regular admission to the gardens.
Public restrooms are not available for changing clothes. Please arrive at the arboretum already dressed for your photographs.
Brides must come dressed for photographs. If a bride needs a place to change clothes, she can rent the Bridal Room at the Camp House or the VEP room in the Trammell Crow Visitor Education Pavilion in advance by calling 214-515-6511.
Please stay out of the flower beds when taking photographs.

and thanks for the invite. i'm glad you caught one of my posts mentioning im from texas. this forum is nice. i'm also curious, theres a good amount of people in here for only 3 months. did all these people receive personal invites from you? hehe. how did you 'advertise' it?

but anyway no i didn't pay a fee. they are pretty open to (non-commercial) photography. i saw some people lugging around huge 'fast' lens, huge reflectors, tripods, etc, who were not on the job. if anything besides going there for the flowers, it's also a good place to see expensive photography gear in person :P

Wow, great place ! There's also a mini-version in Grapevine - the Grapevine Botanical Gardens. It's also a nice setting for portraits, etc, I'm sure much smaller than the Dallas version. The bonus if you have kids is there is a small playground right next to it.
