Engagement Locations - 02-14-2006, 10:40 PM

Hey folks! I'm looking to you all for some guidance (pwetty pwease!).
I need some suggestions for locations for some engagement sessions.
I did a search, and found a couple, but would love to have some more.

Ft Worth: something other than the botanical gardens, preferrably
Could be a nice park, a city scene, or anything really.

Uptown: I haven't been in the Dallas Metro long enough to really figure out
what the heck 'Uptown' really means. So if you could help here, that would be fabulous.

Thanks in advance!

Uptown basically runs along McKinney Avenue from about Pearl to Blackburn. It's a neat area, one of the few places in Dallas where you can stroll around on foot. Lots of cool photographic locations.
Here is a link to the Uptown website: http://www.uptowndallas.net/

Thank you for the link! That's exactly what I needed!
Any specific places in Uptown that you'd recommend?

Have you been to Farmer's Branch Historical Park (not sure exactly what it's called). It's kinda near the corner of Valley Ridge and I-35E, I think. Beautiful setting and all sorts of fun props (train car, old farm looking thing, little chapel, etc.). There used to be a fee, but I don't think there is any more.

Also some of the little neighborhood parks in Highland Park are really cute. I've used Flippen Park (at the corner of Versailles and Lomo Alto) a good few times and just shot in another one a week ago that had some great bridges. I have the name and location of that one at home, so just remind me and I'll get it to you.

The Canals are traditional (too many there for me to count), but you get great shots there. Great for when everything is dead and brown b/c there's no greenery there anyway.

I've heard there's a nice park somewhere behind the RadioShack head quarters in FW, but I haven't been there yet. (Again, I have more info on that one at home too.)

Oh and there's someplace along the River/Canal jogging trail that I've shot. It wasn't the best, but it was winter and rainy and yucky. Could be really cute, I think. It's near the botanical gardens, but like across the street.

Japanese Gardens in the Botanical Gardens are worth the fee and then some, but most clients won't pay it... :)

HTH

Thanks Ciarrai!
For the Fort Worth one, we're looking to stay in the Fort Worth area (I think), but I'll definitely keep these suggestions on my list.

I love the Canals at Las Colinas! So lovely! Flippen Park is great too! I haven't been there in a while, but I love it there.

If you can post the info about that park near RadioShack HQ in FW, I'd be much appreciative! :)

Turtle Creek in Dallas - 02-17-2006, 09:39 AM

I can't remember the exact address but there's a park with a large statue and the creek across the street.

AjP - great idea. Would probably be worthwhile to do other cities as well!

movingex - sorry, that doesn't help at all, since I'm not that familiar with the Ft Worth area.
Cross streets? General location?
