Is that the church in downtown Ft. Worth? For the first 2 shots, I think it would look neat with some remote flashes with colored gels sitting right behind those pillars firing upward, to give a fill with a weird color. That's just me though, I'm a big fan of that sort of thing.

For the first two shots I'd try to go a little earlier. Try shooting at dusk. Just as the sun is going down. That way you can get a little more lite on the other parts of your image. Just set up a tripod and take several shots. The ambeint light will make a difference. And you can still shoot more once it gets dark.
