I shoot film because I don't have the money to buy a digital SLR that will give the me the results of VELVIA. So I was wondering how many people still shoot film?

Strictly film here. Everything B&W I develop and process myself, color I send out. I have nothing against digital, it just doesn't appeal to me.

Photographers have always been graphic artists who selectively frame, crop and highlight by
dodging and increasing contrast.

Oh, I was just being silly.. To be honest with you I hate film vs. digital threads, it reminds me of the Harley vs Japanese bike or Nikon vs. Canon arguments. All nonsense.
I just wanted to clear the air before I get tagged as a digital basher. None of you know me, but I can be a bit sarcastic at times. Hopefully nobody took my post the wrong way....

Well, I was forced to go digital b/c I had to transmit and meet deadlines. For black and white, I still prefer film (although I hear they stopped selling Tri-X ). I shoot with an F100 and an F3 for film. I will say that going digital has made me less conscious of exposure and such, getting lazy cuz I know I can fix it. I used to have to be dead on when I was shooting slide film.

glad to hear you all are out there - 02-23-2006, 09:27 AM

I do all my own B & W work (when I can get into a lab) so I love working in the dark room.
I have become addicted to slide film just because I love the colors. I wish I could find a print film that was close to it for fast action shooting.

I use a Nikon N80 and I hope to get the money together this year to get a D200, but I will probably always shoot film I like the quality I get from slides.
