Kid Pictures - 03-03-2006, 10:55 AM

This is my first attempt at posting one of my pictures on here. Comments/suggestions/critiques are welcome. It's a picture of my son. I think he was about 18 months old in this shot. He is very attracted to the camera, and loves having his picture taken (evident by my other gallery consisting of over 1500 pictures of him, and he's not even 2 yet).

Only thing I have to say about this was that the colours are a little off due to my scanner (shifted towards the red a bit), and the resolution is not so great (600dpi only). I've not yet upgraded to digital, but I'm planning on it soon. This was taken with a Cosina C1. This wasn't taken in Texas, not even in the country. Was taken when I went back home for a week.

he's adorable! the only thing I would say other than what you mentioned about the color is I would have maybe had him slightly off centered, and maybe a slighly lower apeture setting to make the people in the background slightly less focused. other than that he's a cute little bugger. post some more. looks like he's quite the explorer

Explorer is one name for it. He's into everything.

I agree on the person on the right side, it could probably be cropped right to the bar on the back of the train. I'll have to play with it tonight.

Here is another one. Same problem I guess. Need to work on aperature usage.

Thanks for the comments.

And ditto everything Legend said....I do like the catchlights in his eyes in that first one.
You said this was when you were back home...where is home?

Home is England. More specifically a town called Southend on Sea, about 40 miles East of London. I moved to Texas about 5 years ago.

No lighting used, not even a flash. This was taken outside on a nice bright day. It helps he has brilliant blue eyes, they reflect light very well. I'll have to see if I can find a couple of shots where they are shown a little better.

uhm, if you think 1500 is a lot of photos for a kid that is under two, then I won't admit how many photos I have taken of my children........

Anytime my wife complains about the cost of camera equipment, I tell her that I would give her $10,000 in exchange for her selecting any one month since our first child was born (Sep 2001) and all of those photos will be destroyed forever. She won't take me up on it. And I have to keep taking lots of good photos per month so she won't be tempted. :-)

I'm with you Alan. My husband finally understands that he has been saved thousands of dollars by getting me my camera equipment.

Just the way that's phrased sounds like you beat me hands down on picture count... I won't even go into quality... Most of mine look like the average camera user type shots. I have a couple of ones I really like that I think have come out well, but others are "so so".

Working on getting digital equipment now. It starts to get expensive with film processing. I think I've easily spent $200 in film processing in the last couple of months, and we've not hit the zoos again this year yet.

Nice... thanks. I was thinking a little more to the right. Did you change any of the colours? For some reason this seems a little more redish than the original, not sure if it's because there is less white in it now.

i just did an auto levels real fast and used the shadow highlight to make adjustments. no color correction done. on my monitor comparing the two images he still has his rosy complex. not sure what might have happened. i know you can make better edits than i did. like i said literally 30 secs. post some more action shots. i want to see the kind of mischief he gets into muhahaha

I don't think it was warm enough for him to have been hot, so it was probably from the scanner. I've noticed most of the images that I've scanned are shifted towards the red. I just need to upgrade to digital ;)

Maybe if I make the meet next time, I'll bring the actual image with me.
