That would be cool to cover. I have to see when soccer is that day, but I would love to cover it and I think my agency would be interested in these pics if Kinky Freedman is going to be there. Maybe we can do a meet for this.

It's always good. It starts at 11:00 Saturday morning. There should be a big ad or notice in the Dallas Observer(DO) tomorrow. This means that Greenville will be closed to traffic from about 10:30 until 1:00. or so. The Old Town center at Lovers Lane and Greenville will have lots of fun and eating and drinking going on. That is where the biggest crowds will be. See you there.
Here is what the DO says:
"Erin Go Braugh Dallas Observer style at the 27th Annual Greenville Avenue St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 11th! Over 1500 participants will follow Parade Grand Marshal Kinky Friedman, aspiring Texas gubernatorial candidate, with a special appearance by the Budweiser Clydesdales! The Parade will head off from Blackwell Ave to Yale Blvd on Greenville Avenue in what is sure to be the largest and most celebrated St. Patrick's Day Parade in North Texas history! Celebrity judges, to be announced at a later date, will be judging this year's parade entries in seventeen categories ranging from Best of the Best to Least Likely to Finish.
The deadline for parade entries is March 3, but the Greenville Avenue Area Business Association will be accepting entries up until the day of the parade. Keep an eye on the Dallas Observer or right here for more information.
After the parade, follow the floats to Yale Blvd for the Official Parade Post Party and Awards Ceremony from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. This includes a TOADIES REUNION SHOW! For questions regarding the parade, please call 214.757.8514.
The Dallas Observer After Party featuring the Toadies is for ages 21 and over.
The Toadies show has SOLD OUT --

It's a lot O' fun, I wish I could go. | It is always the Saturday before St Patricks day if it was the next Saturday it would be AFTER St Patricks Day!
There also should be a Parade in DownTown Dallas this Sunday!
Used to be a wild party on Lower Greenville down near the Blue Goose but not sure if that is still going on or not because of parking logistics and so many people trashing the neighborhood around the area.
I think I will be setting up near Lovers and Greenville to shoot, I defenitely want some Kinky Shots! This location makes it not to far to walk down to the Yale Party and if I park on the east side of Greenville I won't get trapped by all the traffic! Forecast shows a slight chance of Rain Sat with highs in the 70's.

Lscottphtzgerald,
Let's go. The block between Lovers and Southwestern will probably have the biggest crowds. Plus you have Two Rows in Old Town and other hydration stations right there. Yale is a walkable 4 blocks south.
Since I live in the neighborhood, I will probably go over about 9:00 to 9:30 to check it all out. Can meet one and all anytime, anywhere. People start getting their places set up(chairs, blankets, coolers) from about 8:30 on. The main parking is in Old Town itself, Lovers and Greenville. With temperatures in the low to mid 70's, should be a good crowd.

It's true...I was like 10 and went to his parent's camp in Kerville, Texas. It was called Echo Hill. Kinky was a camp counselor. The one song I remember him teaching me was " Old Ben Lucas had a lot of mucous, comin right out of his nose. He picked and he picked till it made you sick and back again it grows."
Can't believe I remembered that...makes me laugh out loud.
So what's the weather supposed to be like this weekend?

Leslie and All,
How about Two Rows at 10:00? Two Rows might not be open then but other concessions in parking lot may be. Starbucks definitely open. Greenville may be closed by then. Northwest Highway to Skillman, south to Lovers, west(right) to shopping area at Lovers, just past the stop light at Tom Thumb grocery store. Park at Tom Thumb or Borders book store. Go north(right) up Greenville a couple hundred yards. Two Rows is in Old Town, which is what the shopping area is called.
I hate to say this, but if you decide you really want a 600 f/4 at the last minute, there is a Wolf Camera store there, next to Freebird(burritos fame from College Station, I think). Blame me for neither going home broke or for indigestion.
Weather forecast: Partly cloudy(63% coverage) and 71 degrees at 11:00 am.

Leslie,
I can pick you up at Hillcrest and Forest. It's only 5-8 minutes away. How about 9:15 or 9:30?
